Pain is a Messenger

Pain is often what brings people to acupuncture as an alternative to prescription pain medication and anti-inflammatories that cause other unwanted side effects and decrease quality of life.

Pain is the body’s way of communicating that something is imbalanced. There is a saying in Chinese Medicine, “If blood flows, there is no pain.”

Pain is not just a physical manifestation. It is neurological, emotional, and psychological.

Acupuncture is effective in treating the neuro-physical pain while also relieving the psycho-emotional symptoms that pain usually brings up and allows a greater sense of well-being and resilience to living with chronic pain. Sometimes the structure, the body, cannot be changed and acupuncture is a safe alternative to pain medications for long term pain management.

Acupuncture is effective in pain relief by:

  • Increasing blood circulation and tissue oxygenation facilitating healing and decreasing pain.

  • Promotes nervous system relaxation response relieving tension and stress caused by pain by releasing natural painkiller neurotransmitters.

  • Allows a greater sense of well-being with reduced pain creating a better mental outlook and emotional regulation and resilience.
